- We came to Families Through Adoption through a glowing reference about Char Lanning. She was the first
social worker that I called about conducting our home study and from the very first time we I spoke I had a
good feeling. She seemed genuinely excited for us and our decision to adopt. Knowing that we were anxious to
have our little girl home where she belongs, Char wasted no time in getting our Home Study moving. Within a
month, all meetings were completed and the first draft was written. Along the way, we hit a snag. Char was
eager to help resolve the problem, readily available, and sensitive to our stress level! We could not be more

- Jon and I first met Char Lanning at an informational meeting with an adoption agency that we were thinking
of using. We felt so comfortable with Char that we decided that she was 'the person' to trust with our
homestudy. Never once have we regretted that decision. She has gone above and beyond for us. Reassuring us
when we fretted over adoption uncertainties. Our first adoption went perfectly. When the 'dust' settled and
we began talking of adopting again, there was never a question of who would do our homestudy. We called Char
and jumped onto the adoption rollercoaster for a 2nd time. She is a very dedicated person, who listens with

- We had the privilege of working with Mary Moore during our homestudy, which took place in December, 2006.
We were initially impressed with Char Lanning of Families Through Adoption because she has two daughters adopted
from China, the country from which we chose to adopt from. Because she has been through the same experience,
Char was very knowledgeable about China and its adoption procedures. When we met Mary, we were quite happy to
learn she also has a daughter adopted from China, and had therefore been through the same procedure we were going
through. Mary was very professional at all times. Her interviews were thorough. The final report was well-written,
detailed, and accurate. Our adoption agency recommended only a few very minor changes, which we were able to
complete quickly. We were impressed with the quality of the report.
