Mission/ Vision:
Families Through Adoption will foster the formation of families through the
adoption process. FTA partners with adoptive families throughout the adoption
journey: from the conception of the adoption plan through the children’s
independence. This partnership extends to all members of the adoption triad as
well as other venues dedicated to uniting children and parents.

Char has helped more than 150 families grow through adoption since 1998. She has adopted
2 children from China, Abbie in 1996, and Meigan in 2006. In her spare time she is learning to speak Chinese
and enjoys helping kids learn about their heritage and culture. |
Social Work Supervisor: Mary Moore, MS, LLP.

Mary adopted her 14 year old daughter, Elli, in 1995 as a single Mom. Since her first trip to
China to adopt, Elli and Mary have enjoyed learning about Chinese culture and language. Mary and Elli
love meeting other adoptive families and learning about the blessings and burdens of adoption together. |
Outreach Services Team: Art & Wendy Docter

Art and Wendy have been married for 32 years. Their family is comprised of 10 children (6 adopted
and 4 biological). Most of their experience in the adoption realm has been with older special needs children,
starting in 1994. Since that time, they have been affiliated with numerous organizations promoting healthy families
and adoption. Art and Wendy enjoy helping children find their forever families through adoption. |
Social Worker: Sarah Dufendach, MSW.

Sarah received her MSW from the University of
Michigan in 2005 with a concentration in interpersonal practice with children and youth. She is passionate about working
alongside families throughout the adoption process to help them better understand their child's development and foster strong
attachments. She has two sister-in-laws who were adopted from Guatemala |
